My late bloomer path has its roots in a chaotic childhood. I did not fit in at school.  I was a distracted, anxious child who literally hid in the back of the classroom overwhelmed seeing auras and spirit lights around teachers and my fellow students. It didn’t help that my homelife was unpredictable.
 

My childhood happened well before there were any TV shows or books about psychic kids. Remember the island of misfit toys in the Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer movie? I watched that movie every year growing up and identifying with the misfits.  In the movie, the misfits all find loving homes.

At one point in my childhood, I was sent to the family doctor for stomach problems and anxiety. The doctor treated me for an ulcer, then started seeing me for counseling sessions. Ultimately the doctor pronounced me psychologically fit but he remarked that it was unusual for such a young child to carry the “weight of the world” on her shoulders.

I was helped by my grandfather who understood the metaphysical realm. He had a PhD in metaphysics and he was way ahead of his time.   I treasure the memories of the long talks and days spent fishing at the lake with my grandfather.  When I was 15 years old, my world was devastated when my grandfather, who was my safe harbor, passed away suddenly. I am grateful that he “visited” me immediately after he passed, a cherished memory.

I spent years studying spirituality, developing my intuition and mediumship. I sat in gallery readings, praying for a message from my grandfather to come through another medium. Yet I was already receiving lots of signs and dream visits from my grandfather.

I understand why some people have challenges trusting the signs they receive directly from spirit. I had those feelings myself in the past. Today my life is devoted to helping others develop their intuition, trust their signs from loved ones, and listen to their own inner guidance. I didn’t start working as a professional medium until after a near death experience. Maybe you have had a similar wake up call.

Don’t worry about being a late bloomer. You still have time to express the gifts within your soul. And when you share your own unique gifts, you bring a little bit of heaven to earth.

Holidays are especially tough when we are grieving. It is not easy to feel like celebrating when we miss our deceased loved ones.

Yet it can be very comforting to know our deceased loved ones don’t miss us–They don’t have to miss us! They are still with us. They continue to share in our joys and our sorrows. They want us to experience our lives to the fullest. There will be plenty of time later to be with them in the Afterlife.

Right now the holidays are here and it is time to park the family dramas. Put your grief on hold now.

Be present in your life for your loved ones here in the physical world.  Be present for your SELF.

Attitude of gratitude, one day at a time. The holidays are worth the effort because YOU are a gift.

Put up the Christmas tree or light the Menorah.  Go to the party.  Dance to the music of your life!

OBEs can help us grow spiritually and “visit” with spirit guides, angels and loved ones in the Afterlife or astral plane.  Most of us have our OBEs during sleep.

During a recent OBE while my body slept, I had the privilege of meeting up with my beloved dog, Marley, who transitioned in 2007.  I could hug her, smell her sweet musky doggy scent, run my hands through her rich black fur, and feel her doggy kisses on my face.  And then I saw Marley turn to acknowledge my sister.

Ask the Medium how your loved ones are sending you signs.

Your loved ones are sending messages directly to you.  Feel free to ask the Medium what signs you are getting & see what he or she says.  For example, I had a husband come through to tell his wife that he “called her” on her cell phone a few months after he died.  She nearly fell off her chair & confirmed it was true–An old voice message had mysteriously reappeared on her phone.  It was her husband touching base to say he loved her.

Your loved ones on the Other-Side communicate directly with you, using a special language I call the love language of heaven.  They are not “lost” and they continue to be present in your life.  But because they no longer have physical bodies, they communicate using their own language — Signs, symbols, emotions and synchronicities — As their way of saying ‘Hey–I’m still here & I love you.’

Document your reading.

If your reading is private, make an audio recording.  If your reading is part of a public group, take notes.  You will need documentation because your memory is susceptible to omitting (or even embellishing) the details.  Perhaps more important–Your reading can keep “giving” to you if you document it.  Revisit your reading over time & you will likely pick up even more validations.

Pay attention to details that can’t be researched.

Assuming you got a referral or did your homework on the Medium–Don’t be concerned about whether the Medium looked you up on the internet.  The folks on the Other-Side generally work very hard to provide information that nobody can research.   For example–My specialty is bringing through the personality of the deceased with specific details so you know it’s really them.

Don’t feed the Medium.

Allow the communication to flow naturally, FROM the Medium to you.   Don’t volunteer information–Do acknowledge the information you recognize so the Medium can hear your voice & stay connected keeping the flow going.

Accept that you will not understand ‘everything’ during the reading.

Your checklist…#1-Open mind; #2-Grateful heart; #3-Willingness to allow your reading to unfold.

NEVER dismiss someone from the Other-Side who shows up with a message.  Hear them out.  The strongest spirit energy usually comes through clearest, often bringing other loved ones directly behind them.  By telling them you’re not interested, you are royally screwing up big time (my technical terminology).

It’s okay if you can’t place some of the information on the spot.  Sometimes Mediums can do too much interpreting instead of just giving you what we receive.  We are only human & we are not perfect.

Another possibility–The delivery was correct but you could have temporarily gone blank (referred to as ‘psychic amnesia’).  This can happen because a lot of information comes quickly & the energy can make you a little nervous.

And finally–You may need to touch base with a family member to verify a piece of information later.  So when the Medium says “Just write it down,” that is exactly what you should do.  Some clients jot down notes about their family history prior to their reading & this can be helpful but it’s not necessary.

In a group reading–Stay open to the possibility of learning from another person’s message.

Must you tweet, post or text?  REALLY?   The better (and more polite) behavior is to listen to everybody’s messages—Maybe there’s a nugget that can apply to you.  Try to be supportive of others. If your thoughts focus on ‘What about me?’—You might block yourself.

“Is mediumship really a spiritual ability, or is it more of a physical one like being a human radio? It seems like most mediums I know complain of electrical mishaps happening around them, which makes me wonder.”

The question was from a member of our Psychic Strength Building  group on Facebook.  This is an online community I founded with Susanne Wilson to provide a non-judgmental venue to help like-minded people explore, understand and expand their intuitive abilities.

Is mediumship a spiritual or physical ability?  This is an excellent question.  I feel that mediumship is both a spiritual and physical gift.

The Soul essence animates the physical body, but the part like the “radio dial” is there for all to use.

Just because you are not tuning in, doesn’t mean it is not playing… Because the frequencies of the Universal Mind are always  playing.

The question then becomes:  What channel are you tuning into?

Let’s first be clear what I mean by mediumship.  Mediumship is the art of raising your vibration to enable your consciousness to temporarily leave the body & connect with spirit.

I feel that everyone has mediumship potential by virtue of being at essence a spiritual being.  You are a soul who inhabits a body at present.  In my experience as a teacher, your ability for mediumship depends upon the following main factors:

* Your life path  (What are you here to experience in this life?)
* Your beliefs (What mental constructs do you hold that empower you?  Or inhibit you?)
* Your commitment (What is your intention & level of discipline?)

When it comes to intuitive development & mediumship, all of your studies will have a cumulative effect.  Every book you read or seminar you attend is an opportunity for a valuable takeaway.

Sometimes it will feel you are learning quickly.  Other times it can be months, even years between growth spurts.

Many years ago, when I was a mediumship development student, I attended a seminar with James Van Praagh in Miami.

It was the first time I brought through a loved one for a total stranger. As students we were paired up with partners whom we had never met previously.

I could feel myself floating just outside my body & connecting with spirit while doing a practice reading with this total stranger.  Amazingly to me, I brought through the man’s father including personality, appearance, how he passed & his big belly laugh.  I was thrilled & overwhelmed. Even so, it took another six years before I felt called to professional mediumship.

Trust that your abilities will develop perfectly in the time & manner meant for you.
